Partnering with Local Authorities to Support Every Child
Trusted SEN Partner for Local Authorities
JdWood Children’s Services works closely with local authorities (LAs) and schools to provide high-quality alternative provision (AP) for children and young people who:
Have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
Experience mental health or medical challenges
Are excluded from school or currently without a placement
Require an EOTAS (Education Other Than at School) arrangement
Need support in transitioning to adulthood, including post-16 pathways
Our focus is on supporting learners with special educational needs (SEN), including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties and other learning challenges. We deliver flexible, bespoke tuition across the curriculum — from Reception to A-level, including adult learning support and short-term education placements.
A Nurturing and Holistic Approach
At JdWood Children’s Services, we believe that every child learns best when they feel valued, understood, and supported.
Our nurturing, student-centred approach helps build trust, confidence, and motivation, leading to improved engagement, attendance, and academic progress. We also help develop essential life skills, study techniques, and independence to support successful transitions into adulthood.

How We Work
At JdWood Children’s Services, our dedicated team is passionate about helping every student reach their full potential.
Our education consultants, each holding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), take the time to fully understand every learner’s unique strengths, challenges, and circumstances. This ensures that each child or young person is carefully matched with a tutor who best meets their individual needs.
Every student receives a personalised Individual Learning Plan (ILP) designed to support both academic progress and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) development. These plans are regularly reviewed and updated to keep learning goals and transition pathways on track. Each provision is closely overseen by an education consultant, ensuring quality and consistency throughout.
Our tutors bring patience, empathy, and specialist experience to every session. They approach each child with care, understanding, and genuine connection — embodying JD Wood’s nurturing, student-centred philosophy that helps build confidence, engagement, and long-term success.
